9/11 Music
I lost my dad in the horrific events of 9-11. He worked in the World Trade Centre up on the 99th floor of the South Tower.
2011 is the 10th anniversary and to mark it I’m going to be exploring the music that came out of the day. I want to find out why and how people wrote the songs they did, what the response has been to the songs and what lasting impact they’ve had.
Streets of this Town was part of my response – you can watch it bellow. I’ll be posting links and stories behind some of the stories and songs and keeping you up to date with news about where this is leading.
One thing that I love is that most of the songs have been messages of hope in contrast to the military response to the attacks. It’s up to us to make a difference in this world by the way we respond to tragedy
Here’s a list of songs that I’ll be exploring
Bruce Springsteen – The Rising/Empty Sky/City Of Ruins
Suzanne Vega – Anniversary/Angels Doorway
U2 – Peace On Earth/Walk On
Alan Jackson – Where Were You When The World Stops Turning
Josh Groban – To Where You Are
After The Fire – Carry Me Home
Keith Donolly – Two Tall Trees
Streets Of This Town – New York City – 2004

very moving, lets hope your research sends you on a wild and wonderful journey, we’ll be following you all the way.Keep up the good work.
Rob, I applaude your project. I also knew your Father and would like to chat, as I miss him as well. God Bless Kevin
Really looking forward to how this turns out. Such a good idea.
