Ethiopia
Ethiopia is synonymous with famine. In 1984, news broadcasted on the BBC sent shockwaves across the western world and was the trigger for Bob Geldolf to launch Band Aid, followed soon after by Live Aid.
25 years later and Ethiopia is still a country plagued by poverty and famine.
But here’s a plan. Because of the fragility of Ethiopia bought on by years of famine and drought, resilience to these natural disasters is low and as ever the hardest hit in these times are the children. If we can provide education, training and micro-finance schemes for families in the most vulnerable areas, we help them create self-sustaining communities and retain their dignity.
To help fund this I have a target to raise £2000 by July 2011.
I’ll be playing gigs, selling CD’s, running marathons and hiking away so please consider sponsoring me.
